#NpowerNG fraud in Ebonyi, where volunteers pay #300 monthly verification fee

Against the directive of the Federal government that anything NPOWER IS FREE, report from the Ebonyi State says some Local Government officials continue to exploit volunteers.

One of the Npower Volunteers says they undergo monthly verification exercise and are mandated to pay the sum of #300 for the exercise.

He made the allegation in one of the Npower Groups on Facebook, Npower Volunteer Group. 

Our take:
The collection of such fee isn't from Npower Team, Abuja.

There is nothing like monthly verification exercise, verification has been carried out Nationwide in December 2016, except Lagos whose verification extended till January 2017.

Npower hasn't directed anyone or its staff members to embark on any monthly verification exercise.

If anyone npower volunteer pay such, he does so at its own peril because npower has consistently say volunteer should report any case of financial mispropriaty to the right channel, in fact Npower launched Whistle-blower channel to report such cases.

Note that an online news media infobase early in this year reported a case of a 419 who parades himself as Npower Staff .
